Bizmap Profiles

Bizmap was a collaboration between Small Business BC, the City of Vancouver and Vancouver BIAs. It provided easy access to data focused on Vancouver’s main business districts. Its purpose was to help local businesses, organisations and interest groups understand neighbourhoods and their potential. Using data acquired by Small Business BC, I designed thirteen PDF Documents to be accessed from the Bizmap website. These profiles share detailed information about the business market in various participating business improvement areas in the City of Vancouver.

The profiles had to be readable and engaging documents that give an overview of key statistics in business areas. Every page needed infographics and/or charts to liven up an otherwise dry read.During the initial design, I tried to develop a very streamlined process in order to create a consistent profile efficiently in the future. All of the profiles used more-or-less the same charts, graphs, and infographics on the same pages, all linked in from 2 external files that can be updated at any time.

As this project was ongoing, my design was reused for future profiles when new BIAs joined the Bizmap project. The final profiles were well received by clients and stakeholders. Bizmap proved itself to be a useful tool that has continuously evolved and expanded.
