The Native Shoes Remix™ Project is an initiative for customers to return their used shoes to be recycled. The shoes are ground down and used as seating, playground flooring, insulation and more. This project was launched in 2018, a year before I started working at Native Shoes. By 2021, it had grown into something much bigger and more important, an extension of the Native Shoes brand.
I was tasked with designing a new visual identity for the Native Shoes Remix™ Project that would be first showcased alongside the upcoming 2021 Back to School campaign. I developed a logo, pattern, and infographics to be used wherever the project turns up online and in stores. Native Shoes retail stores and other retail partners had shoe recycling boxes that needed to be refreshed. For the Back to School campaign photoshoot I designed two props. One was a giant larger-than-life sized shoe recycling box (similar to the ones in store) and the other was a mailing package to communicate that customers can return their shoes through mail.
The Native Shoes Remix™ Project Identity would have to be versatile while blending seamlessly with the overarching Native Shoes brand. Over time, more campaigns in the future would feature the project and the imagery. The new look for the Native Shoes Remix™ Project was introduced in Fall 2021. All Remix Project communications and brand experiences continue to use this foundational visual identity.
